When you first start camping, one thing that causes some anxiety is food. What to bring, how to prepare it, what equipment is needed? Pizza delivery is not available at most campgrounds, so you need some cooking options. With some easy camping recipes and basic equipment, there is no reason for your camping trip to be a bad dining experience. For a beginner camper, one good tip is keep it simple, and these easy camping recipes will help. Another is to make a menu for the weekend so you know what to shop for.
Cooking Equipment
There are many easy camping recipes that can be prepared with just a camp stove, barbeque grill or dutch oven. Don’t forget, you can also use a campfire as a heat source as well. If you have a generator, you can also have the luxury of a microwave oven, toaster, coffee maker or blender. The easy camping recipes also require some basic kitchen tools like a frying pan, a pot and utensils. I would recommend putting together a camping box that has everything you need and leave it together.

If you are busy during the day, there will always be a need for some midday snacks. If you plan on being active, take things that will easily fit in a backpack and do not need to be kept cold.
Beef or Turkey Jerky, trail mix, raisins, granola bars, dry cereal and energy bars are great. Ants on a log (celery, filled with peanut butter and topped with raisins) make a healthy and fun to eat snack.
You may also consider potato chips, graham crackers, fruit, tortilla chips and salsa.
